Miss Oktoberfest is an ambassador role that inspires the next generation of fest-goers, she carries a message of safe festing all while promoting Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest and the local Waterloo Region.

While there are many roles within Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest that are required to attend over 130 events Miss Oktoberfest is our second most requested VIP, surpassed only by Onkel Hans. Throughout the year, Miss Oktoberfest makes over 225 appearances throughout Waterloo Region. These engagements include supporting over 40 family and cultural events, local charities and business functions along with Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest official events. Many of these appearances include a public speaking role, such speaking to the crowd at the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Official Opening Ceremonies. Miss Oktoberfest will also participate in media tours promoting the festival and make appearances at community events throughout Southern Ontario leading up to and following the festival. Miss Oktoberfest must be comfortable speaking in front of large crowds and be passionate about the local community and Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest.
When official events such as keg tappings, family and cultural events, and parades take place, Miss Oktoberfest is responsible for speaking, participating in Bavarian traditions, and sharing the spirit of Gemütlichkeit with members of the public.
Miss Oktoberfest is expected to assist with marketing of the festival by being available for photos, television, and radio appearances, and to participate in parades and conventions throughout the year. Miss Oktoberfest will often represent Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest at other community events and celebrations throughout the year, including business events, celebrations, and commemorations. She may be required to travel to strengthen Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest relationships abroad.
Miss Oktoberfest plays an important role in inspiring youth in the community and supporting other non-profit organizations. She meets with over 500 youth through the Kitchener-Waterloo Schools program and several organizations that benefit from Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest.
Miss Oktoberfest often supports other charities and organizations in the community, using her platform and voice to recognize and expand the reach. For example Miss Oktoberfest has participated in The Motorcycle Ride for Dad, Junior Achievement and Lutherwood’s Steps for Kids to name a few.
This is a year-long commitment and upon completion Miss Oktoberfest will join the Miss Oktoberfest Alumni. This Alumni group plays a role in strengthening Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest’s profile globally. They find meaningful ways to make an impact using their unique skills, strengths and experiences, many of which are acquired during their time as Miss Oktoberfest. Miss Oktoberfest Alumni are invited and encouraged to participate in future Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest festivities, attend community events, and recognize and support other charities.
