At a gala black tie event, Mikaila Emrich was crowned Miss Oktoberfest 2017, making her the 49th Miss Oktoberfest since the festival’s inception. Mikaila was sponsored by Waterloo Region Small Business Centre.
Mikaila is a 21 year old commerce student with a personal vision of being a leader in terms of kindness, positivity and hard work. She is currently in her last semester at the University of Guelph in the Marketing program.
Mikaila has had a passion for entrepreneurship since she was 9 years old. She fell in love with the ability to take an idea and turn it into something tangible that can add value to another person’s life. For her, using her strengths and passions to accomplish a goal is the very definition of happiness and career fulfilment.
Last summer Mikaila ran Bare Necessities Baking, a muffin business which specialized in Paleo muffins (grain free, gluten free, dairy free and refined sugar free…..but NOT flavor free!). This product targeted a variety of demographics in our community – from Crossfit Athletes to individuals with one of the above intolerances, the muffins were a perfect guilt free indulgence.
Fitness and nutrition are Mikaila’s passion and her desire to pursue further entrepreneurial opportunities in the field of macronutrient meal plans are keeping her busy and fueling her desire to create things that affect others in a positive way.
Mikaila has been directly involved with Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest for the past seven years as a German Dance Group Member and as Miss Transylvania in 2016. She will be an excellent ambassador for our Festival because she truly loves networking and communicating with people and is very proud of her German Heritage.
