What are the criteria to apply for Miss Oktoberfest?

What if I do not meet the criteria for Miss Oktoberfest?

Don’t fit the criteria but know an exemplary woman in our community?

How are applicants selected and what is involved in the application process?

For those who are selected to move forward in the application process, the two weeks leading up to the Miss Oktoberfest Gala will consist of attending sponsored events around the community and getting to know the other women interested in this role. In addition, you will meet major Oktoberfest sponsors, Oktoberfest officials like the president of the festival, media personalities, and Miss Oktoberfest Alumni.

The next phase is interviews with our judges, but not to worry—they are friendly and they just want to get to know you! The successful candidate will be determined based on their success in the interviews, and their community involvement, knowledge of the festival, and passion for German culture (even if you are not German).

On Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, participants will attend the Miss Oktoberfest Gala, where the next Miss Oktoberfest will be announced – it could be you! Apply today:

How do I submit my application for Miss Oktoberfest?

Please make sure you have read the requirements and completed the application form here.  Submit your completed application form, sponsor logo and application fee to the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Office in one of these ways;

  • Bring your completed work to the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest admin office in person or mail it to;

What is the entry deadline & entry fee?

Entry Deadline is Friday, September 6, 2019.  Corporate/Individual Sponsorship Entry Fee is $350 + HST which includes:

  • Presentation of company logo on large screens
  • Event program recognition
  • Verbal exposure throughout the evening of the Miss Oktoberfest Gala Ball

Where can I find a sponsor?

Most participants already have secured their own sponsor.  In some cases, the committee may be able to assist in this matter.

What happens after paperwork (entry form, fee and sponsor logo) is submitted?

Participants are contacted by a representative from the committee with additional details (judging, special events, etc.)

What is required of each candidate?

Mandatory Dates for Participants in 2019 include: Special Events which will take place between September 10 to September 30 (5pm onward); Interviews/Judging (Thursday, September 26th from 5 pm until 10 pm); Miss Oktoberfest Gala Rehearsal (Thursday, October 3 from 6 pm – 9 pm); Miss Oktoberfest Gala – crowning of Miss Oktoberfest 2019 (Friday, October 4 from 5 pm until after crowning).

What are the responsibilities should you win?

Miss Oktoberfest is one of the most requested ambassadors for Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest. The Miss Oktoberfest 2019 term runs from October 4, 2019 to October 2, 2020 and must be available for numerous activities throughout the year. From October 4 to October 19, 2019, Miss Oktoberfest will be very busy with festival activities (day and night). What Does the Successful Candidate Receive?

In addition to a once in a lifetime experience, the successful candidate will receive a number of items and opportunities. Miss Oktoberfest will receive a scholarship to put towards her continuing education or professional development. Her year will include many items such as her sash, crown and dirndl, but will also include the opportunity to develop a wide variety of skills. Miss Oktoberfest will be invited to a number of networking opportunities with high level city officials, business professionals and various other VIPS. She will be responsible for a variety of public speaking roles, and will be provided with media training to handle her new responsibilities. In addition to her official role within Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest, this platform will allow her to give voice to causes that are important to her. Past women in the Miss Oktoberfest role have given voice to causes such as Kidsability, Lutherwood and Junior Achievement.

How can I request Miss Oktoberfest to make an appearance at my event?
