Miss Oktoberfest is one of the most requested ambassadors for the festival. It is a full year commitment, with the busiest time, of course, being during the festival and the two weeks leading up to it. If you become Miss Oktoberfest, expect that you will need to be available from approximately 5 a.m. until 1 a.m. each day of the festival to make appearances at special events and participate in interviews for early morning radio and television. Please see an example of what a year in the life of Miss Oktoberfest could look like here.

This ambassador role is designed to engage with children, youth, and young adults and to provide career advancement opportunities for young women in the local community. Therefore, these guidelines have been put in place to support these goals. Don’t fit the criteria but know an exemplary woman in our community?

What Does the Successful Candidate Receive?

In addition to a once in a lifetime experience, the successful candidate will receive a number of items and opportunities. Miss Oktoberfest will receive a scholarship to put towards her continuing education or professional development. Her year will include many items such as her sash, crown and dirndl, but will also include the opportunity to develop a wide variety of skills. Miss Oktoberfest will be invited to a number of networking opportunities with high level city officials, business professionals and various other VIPS. She will be responsible for a variety of public speaking roles, and will be provided with media training to handle her new responsibilities. In addition to her official role within Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest, this platform will allow her to give voice to causes that are important to her. Past women in the Miss Oktoberfest role have given voice to causes such as Kidsability, Lutherwood and Junior Achievement.
