Miss Oktoberfest is one of the most requested ambassadors for Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest. She reigns for a full year, from September 30, 2016 to September 29, 2017, and is especially busy from October 1, 2016 to October 15, 2016 during the Oktoberfest festival. Dressed in traditional German tracht and the classic crown and sash, Miss Oktoberfest is a welcoming and recognizable face greeting Oktoberfesters who travel from all over the world to take part in the festivities. Above all things, Miss Oktoberfest is a public speaker, a leader, and a strong relationship builder connecting regularly with media personalities, politicians, and festers alike.
In addition to representing Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest during the festival, the Miss Oktoberfest role gives young women living in and around Kitchener-Waterloo a unique leadership position within the community. As we mentioned, Miss Oktoberfest reigns all year long. After the busyness of October comes to an end, we love to help our Miss Oktoberfest to find meaningful ways to engage in the community that help to highlight their unique skills, strengths, and experiences. We are interested in meeting women who are engaged in the community in exceptional and exciting ways.
How do I run for Miss Oktoberfest?
Any candidate interested in running for Miss Oktoberfest must submit an application no later than Friday, September 9, 2016. For two weeks, successful candidates will attend sponsored events around the community. During this time candidates will interact with the each other, major Oktoberfest sponsors, Oktoberfest officials (the president of the festival, Miss Oktoberfest Committee, etc.), and our team of Miss O judges. Also during those weeks, candidates will sit for a series of interviews with our judges. The successful candidate will be determined based on their success in the interviews. There will be no bathing suit or talent act required (#2016).
On Friday, September 30, 2016, a select number of participants will attend the Miss Oktoberfest Gala Ball where the successful candidate will be crowned and her experience will begin.
Who may run for Miss Oktoberfest?
* Requirement #2 can be a sticky one. We require that a woman is single and without children because of the time demands of the role. We respect all Mothers and married women, but if you ask any former Miss O they will tell you that managing yourself and the role is enough responsibility. If you have any questions or concerns about this rule, please reach out to the Miss O committee.
